Underdog-1st 7" repress

I first heard the Underdog LP 'Vanishing point' back when it was first released in 1989. I was heavily into the youth crew/NYHC sound at the time and it was a real surprise and was certainly different to what I was expecting with it's reggae influences and mid pace. Still I was well into it and when I discovered there was a 7" out as well, it went onto my wants list but it was nearly a decade later until I even got hold of it (and actually heard it). It was definitely closer to the typical straight up hardcore that I was listening to back in the late 80's than the LP. 24 years after it's release it's back out again. Bridge 9 have done a sterling job as always with this repress on two nice colours. Even if you already own an original you should pick up this again and if you don't.. then what are you waiting for? There's a huge void in your collection that needs filling.

Ozzy Osbourne-Blizard of Oz gold disc.

By far one of the strangest (and coolest) things that I've ever found on a car boot sale or flea market, a gold disc of Ozzys debut solo album after he left Sabbath. As you can see it was awarded to Sharon Arden (before they married). It's not in the best condition but with a bit of a clean up and with some glass put in the frame it should look a lot better and will look nice up on my wall. How the hell this ended up on a flea market in Preston is anyone's guess .

Subhumans-The day the country died LP

I first heard this album after I traded a copy back in 1996 which is oddly the same timeline between now and when it was first released back in 1982. Straight away I was well into this. I dunno, I was never into much anarcho stuff but there was something about this band which stood out from their peers for me. It's lyrics still stand the test of time and the music is great and intense. I love that artwork on the cover too. What a great sleeve!!! A couple of years ago all the Subhumans' LPs were re-released, remastered but I only recently just found out that they all came out on different colours of vinyl so the hunt starts again. I picked this up first as it's easily my favourite LP by them and if I was going to re-buy any of them then this had to be it. As you tell below it's on a nice (180g) thick red vinyl.
Also you get a nice poster with it (below). I guess this is the same deal with all the other re-releases.

Listening to this again, I'm glad I got another copy. It's still a great album and they are still making really fucking good records (check out 2007's Internal Riot). Just means I need to buy the rest of the buggers again. Bah!!!

Fucked up-Daytrotter 7"

With the chaos that was record store 2010 just gone I decided to do a post of one of the things that I picked up. I did get a Sick of it all 7" on clear but other people will be doing better and more detailed posts about it so I thought I'd cover the other 'hardcore' record that was available on the day. 'Hardcore' is a very loose description of Fucked up these days. They've certainly evolved into a different beast since their early days. These 3 tracks were recorded at the end of 2008 and have wierd a almost trippy vibe about them. Not sure of the pressing info for this. It could be 2000 worldwide (with 500 of them being for the UK) but I could be wrong. I know a very small quanity had diffrent sleeves so no doubt they'll be the ones making coin on ebay. Another one to add to the million fucked up records that I own and one to tick off the list of the million others that I don't have.

Velocity girl-Copacetic LP

Yeah, this is a surprise for me as well. I usually prefer my stuff hard, heavy and fast but hey everyone has to mellow out sometimes and this is perfect. That said the music is quite hard hitting in places (reminding me a bit of Sunny day real estate) but with beautiful female vocals on top I never bothered with this back in the day for obvious reasons but old age, open mindedness and the fact it was only a quid made me bite the bullet and pick it up and I'm glad I did. I need more now...
Nice red vinyl. Not sure how many were pressed but probably loads as this is a Sub pop Euro release.

My copy came with a poster too. Not that I'll be sticking this on any wall in my house,. It looks like a unpublished still from the film 'revenge of the nerds'. What a bunch of utter geeks!

Trades

Years ago trading records used to be my favourite past time but these days it's more of an headache than anything. The Hows your edge board is full of dickheads who just put their collections to show off with no intention of letting any of it go (it's TRADE board, Duh!!!). When you come across someone is actually willing to trade they normally want a ridiculously one sided deal. Anyway I recently got in touch with a good dude called Christian who is actually down for trading stuff on his list and gasp.. wants to do fair swaps. Amazing. Anyway his package turned up the other day and this is what was in it.
The new Buzzoven LP 'Violence from the vaults' on Relapse. Actually it's not new really as these recordings are from 1994 but have never seen the light of day until now. Really good shit. If you like sludge like Eyehategod then you need this. I have their other albums on CD, wish I had the vinyl.
Also included was Corrupted's 'Pasor inferior' 12". I do own some Corrupted vinyl but not much, just a couple of split 7"s with other bands so it was nice to get this. It's a black embossed cover although you probably can't make that out in the above photo. Two long but awesome tracks of Japanese doom (sung in Spanish lyrics!!!). Side two is an hypnotic instrumental.

The thing I was most looking forward to though was 'We live' 2xLP on purple by Electric wizard (on Rise above records). EW usually commands high prices on egay so it was nice to actually get this without parting with a ton of cold cash. As with pretty much all of EW's output it's a beast of a record. And it looks nice on colour vinyl.

All in all a nice trade and I'm looking forward to doing some more with Christian soon. Cheers dude.

Down to nothing-Splitting headache 2x 7"

Collecting Down to nothing record can cause a spliting headache. They have LOADS out and that's before you start going into every variation of each relaese. So amongst the 800 records that they've made Speedowax put this out sometime around 2006 and they all went fast and I missed out. Speedowax was a UK based label that did pretty basic packaging with their records. As you can the labels are just blank with stamps. Nice colour of wax though. Looks almost good enough to eat although it's pretty best that I don't. Not sure how many there were all together but this is the Down to nothing press numbered 10 out of 125.So another DTN record to add to the pile of others that I have.
